Beyoncé for British Vogue, July 2022. Photographed by Rafael Pavarotti. Styled by Edward Enniful and Marnix Senofonte, hair by Jawara, make-up by Sir John, nails by Miho Okawara, and set designed by Mary Howard. Also, Beyoncé's team from her creative director (Andrew Makadsi), hairstylist (Nakia Rochon), senior creative producer (Lauren Baker), Bey's stylist (Marnix Senofonte), Senofonte's assistants (Vance Gamble and Damien Lloyd) and tailors (Timothy White and Arturo Padilla).
What a great return Beyoncé has made this morning from announcing that her new album, Renaissance, is releasing next month to hours later surprising us with a phenomenal cover and editorial spread for British Vogue's July issue. I'm ecstatic about this new era of Bey and what is projected to be her "most ambitious musical project to date."
These images set the tone for what to expect with the 80s retro-futuristic glamour/ club culture concept. This album, as described by Enniful in the article, should "transport us back to our youth, make us get up and start throwing moves, make you rise, that turns your mind to cultures and subcultures, to our people past and present, music that will unite so many on the dance floor, music that touches your soul."
Bey worked with Harris Reed & Vivienne Lake (the same designer that created Iman's beautiful headpiece at the 2020 Met Gala) to create two dramatic headpieces. Both are made from peacock feathers and leftovers used from Iman's headpiece. This was a 300-hour process with Reed & Lake having to bleach, re-dye, and paint each plume a vibrant color according to the Vogue article. Bey wears an ALAÏA jumpsuit and boots, and earrings by Eddie Borgo.
My favorite image from the spread is Bey sitting on this gigantic disco ball on a smoky vibrant pink dancefloor. She wears leggings, a silk train, and a corset by Harris Reed. Gorgeous pink embellished with lace boots by Harris Reed & Roker. The second peacock feather headpiece mentioned above by Harris Reed & Vivienne Lake. A reimagined platinum and diamond necklace by Tiffanys.
Bey wears a GCDS Fall 2022 pink jumpsuit, custom coat, and gloves. Headpiece by Philip Treacy. Earrings by Lorraine Schwartz. Emanuele Bicocchi bracelets are worn in her hair.
Custom GCDS pink coat, and visor by House of Flora.
Schiaparelli Spring/ Summer Couture 2022 dress and gold-plated and rhinestone earrings.
Bey wears Ivy Park jumpsuit, heels by Gianvito Rossi, and jacket by Han Kjøbenhavn.
Custom armor by Sho Konishi, and boots by Dolce & Gabbana.
Junya Watanabe patchwork leather jacket, Commando vinyl leggings, boots by Harris Reed & Roker, Malakai beaded leather headpiece with studs, and Lorraine Schwartz white-gold and diamond earrings.
